Taya says: ” Prof.Liz Greenwell and the cause she founded for October 4 each year,Global Cooperation Day, were marked on 30th September. We had several schools at St George’s College.
The Tetrad Tree Foundation is a Zimbabwean-registered Non Governmental Organization which was established in 2011 and several companies, volunteers, NGOs and individuals have joined, together we are the Climate Transformation Group.
Over the last few years, support from Climate Transformation Group Eco Partners has allowed us to plant nearly 500 000 trees in impoverished communities across Zimbabwe—from Zambezi to Limpopo to Chimanimani. The results have been spectacular and more sustainable development programs have also been implemented.
The most vulnerable members of some of our communities women and children are walking long distances, crossing flooded crocodile infested rivers in search of firewood or paraffin for domestic use. You can help improve lives through your participation in various climate change mitigation programmes such as tree planting, reducing carbon emissions, sustainable managing land degradation and using alternative energy.
After every tree planting, we hear back from community members about how the trees have helped farmers feed their families, provided fuel for cooking and warmth, prevented erosion, and brought economic and environmental stability where it’s needed most.
Hence, the Climate Transformation Group’s loyal supporters, deserve all the credit. Through collective action and shared responsibility they have brought hope, smiles, vitality, and economic security to people in Zimbabwe and around the world.
But our work is not done yet.
With your help, we can carry on with the Climate Transformation Group’s good work. Our goal this planting season is to collectively raise enough to plant 100,000 more trees. Your support and shared responsibility (in any form) will help us reach our goal, our Great Dream, a Greener Tomorrow.
We have a program taking place on 6th November which can give Toyota sustainable CSR visibility, the UN General Assembly International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict (A/RES/56/4). The United Nations attaches great importance to ensuring that action on the environment is part of conflict prevention, peacekeeping and peace building strategies – because there can be no durable peace if the natural resources that sustain livelihoods and ecosystems are destroyed. On this day, the Zimbabwe National Army Commander Lt. Gen. P.V. Sibanda has a public lecture for School children explaining what our Zimbabwe Defence Forces are doing to mitigate climate change. The Climate Transformation Group and Tetrad Tree Foundation would like your organisation to partner us in hosting this event.”
The Tetrad Tree Foundation is most grateful to Professor Liz Greenwell and her supporting partner ForestNation for providing this opportunity.
