How lucky are we to share our gardens with such amazing wildlife.We can all make a difference, starting wit…h our own little piece of Africa : our gardens, verges, window boxes, veggie patches Every animal and insect has a place, a purpose, a reason – each insect, bird, mongoose, genet, gecko, moth, monkey has a role to play in our ecosystem. In our modern lives we forget where we to have come from. The hustle and bustle of our lives has removed our senses from the natural world. Take five minutes of your day and sit somewhere still and just watch, listen and feel the nature around you. It could be the butterflies, bees, birds or monkeys you are watching. But soon you will see and feel nature and your inner self will tune in to the sounds of nature. Our urban wildlife is under severe threat and strain – trying to survive in an ever unfriendly intolerant human world. We forget that we moved into their habitat to build our homes and factories. And we must learn to live side by side – and to SHARE our space. Ignorance is dangerous and we all need to be continuously educated to understand why certain animals do what they do. Many people have little or no respect for wildlife. Many people drive too fast killing many species of wildlife whilst rushing from A to B. Take a moment, a short moment and explore your own garden – your own little piece of Africa. If we all looked after our own little piece of Africa imagine the possibilities that could come from such a small idea and the good it would do for us and for our precious wildlife.
