About GreenWheaton

GreenWheaton is a group of dedicated residents, businesses, environmentalists and other supporters who value Wheaton’s human and natural resources and want to help Wheaton evolve into a model sustainable community. GreenWheaton was awarded the Mid-County Regional Services Center Civic Association of the Year award in 2011 for our work on the Sector Plan and the installation of the garden. Since 2009, we have staffed an environmental info booth at a variety of festivals such as Taste of Wheaton, Brookside Garden’s Earth Day, the Harp & Thistle Festival, and the World of Montgomery Festival.

GreenWheaton’s purpose is to engage the entire community (government, business and residential) in education and outreach that promotes Wheaton, Maryland, as a model sustainable community with a “visibly green” and healthy environmental footprint. Our organization helps local businesses and residents learn more about going “green” in the Wheaton community and surrounding area.
