CDF – “Plant to Protect” Campaign

On 11/30/21 (#GivingTuesday) CDF launched a 30-day “PlantToProtect” giving campaign with a goal to plant 13,000 trees in Tanzania by partnering with ForestNation.

CDF’s roots are in protecting employers and through this fundraiser, we will work together to protect our planet and build a more sustainable future.  Greening our planet with trees cleans the air we breathe, filters the water we drink, and provides habitat to more than 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity.

Why Tanzania?  Tanzania is the largest of all countries in East Africa.  Once entirely bush and savanna, the landscape is now semidesert.  In the Eastern and Western Mountain Ranges where trees will be planted, heavy deforestation has ruined the livelihoods of many locals.  The impact of planting trees here is far-reaching:  seedlings are grown for families to plant on their farms and once mature, they produce a regular harvest, yielding food and income (100 mature fruit-bearing trees = $700 of income and yields 10 tons of oxygen per year) and assists in providing gender equality by employing 200 women year-round and up to 800 women seasonally.

The campaign runs from 11/30/21 to 12/31/21.

Let’s #PlantToProtect our earth together!

Reforesting Tanzania

We’re planting 10 trees in Tanzania for every tree you grow with us. The trees will be first grown in the nursery, which employs mostly women. When the trees mature, they will create income for farmers and provide for the entire community.
