On the surface, Level Devil appears to be a straightforward platformer; but, it swiftly transforms into one of the most surprising experiences that can be expected from casual gaming. At first sight, the controls and images appear to be those that you are already familiar with; yet, as you progress further into the game, the more it deceive you. This ingenious design is both the game’s greatest strength and the reason why players have different opinions about it.
On the visual side, Level Devil features graphics that are simple and uncluttered, with pastel blocks and simple character sprites. This minimalist approach will lull you into a false sense of ease, but unfortunately, it will not last long before a trap is set and your character falls without any prior notice. The visual simplicity really works to the game’s advantage, since it makes the surprises more impactful and encourages players to pay attention to small clues.
