About

Kirkland Urban is a mixed-use development, set on 11 acres of land in the heart of downtown Kirkland, WA and masterfully designed around the modern 18-hour day – where life doesn’t stop before, during or after work. Must-have retail plays a big part in that around-the-clock lifestyle, encouraging interaction, connectivity and opportunity. Workers, residents and visitors have an anchor grocer with QFC Supermarkets and a well-curated shopping experience at their doorstep as well as many restaurants and bars. The development’s stylish and sophisticated Uptown Apartments at Kirkland Urban offer the perfect place to land after long days of work and play. Retailers include Shake Shack, Mud Bay, Power Hour 360, Restore Hyper Wellness + Cryotherapy, Bright Horizons Childcare, Seattle Coffee Gear, Lounge by Topgolf, Ryan James Fine Arts, Chainline Brewery, Vinason, Levue Nail Lounge, Caffe Ladro, First Tech Federal Credit Union, Walla Walla Clothing Company, SOI, Plantiful, Rare Tea, and Urban Eyes.

Urban Beekeeping Initiative

The Kirkland Urban mixed-use complex has introduced two bee-filled boxes as a sustainable way to produce natural bee products while also providing thousands of new pollinators to the neighborhood.

On the roof of the Northern-most building of the Kirkland Urban complex sits two boxes that serve as a more than adequate home for thousands of tirelessly working honey bees.

Bee colonies are procured through a company called Alvéole, the French word for honeycomb. Alvéole is an urban beekeeping service that helps introduce new bee colonies to urban areas.

Electronics and Styrofoam Recycling and Composting Initiative

Kirkland Urban hosts electronics and styrofoam recycling events in partnership with DTG Recycle / 1 Green Plant throughout the year starting on Earth Day.

Kirkland Urban partners with Cedar Grove, an industry-leading environmental solutions company that harnesses the vitality of organic waste by recycling it into innovative products to encourage daily composting by providing accessible bins on the KU property. Through their composting initiative, Kirkland Urban ultimately strives to contribute to the overall mission of diverting “waste” that would otherwise be mixed in with trash and shipped to landfills and transforming it into clean, nutrient-rich products.

Plant with Kirkland Urban

This year on Earth Day, Kirkland Urban is launching their #PlantwithKU campaign with the goal to plant 20,000 trees in Tanzania by partnering with ForestNation.

Kirkland Urban is planting with ForestNation to encourage action within the community by promoting afforestation and biodiversity in underserved communities around the world. Trees are planted in areas hit hard by deforestation and industrial agriculture, with a focus on generating sustainable livelihoods in developing countries. Kirkland Urban is deeply passionate about and supports the longer term mission of stimulating local economies, developing leadership roles for women, and creating a brighter outlook for future generations.

Reforesting Tanzania

These trees will help reforest our planet and will also create food security and sustainable livelihoods for communities in Tanzania affected by mass deforestation.
