Enel Cyril, the manager of our Haitian team for The Haiti Tree Project, began reforesting with us in 2017 after a devastating cyclone hit Haiti. He came to our tree nursery after he heard all the trees were washed away and began digging them out of the mud in the river bed. He rescued thousands of trees, took them to his own mountainside 20 miles away and planted them. Today, he works for us growing all the seedlings for our projects on his land with the help of a strong community organization.
Many villagers, impressed with our efforts, came off their houses with hoes and spades just to assist in planting the trees. A good thing with this operation was the fact that none of them asked for something in return understanding that the trees were meant for them and their future.
