How Easily You Can Space Plants?

The plant spacing is essential for proper maintenance and estimating per-acre Cultivation Cost and to avoid the extra plants in small place. You can estimate the harvesting equipment and the overall fertilizer cost by calculating the plant spacing. It is essential to understand that there is an appropriate space required for each plant to grow properly and nourish health. The Plant Spacing Calculator by calculator-online.net is appropriate for estimating the plant spacing. Plant spacing is essential to determine the proper spacing between the plants in our field for evergreen cultivation.

How to estimate the plant spacing?

To estimate the plant spacing, we forty need to find the area of the field. Then we can estimate the number of the rows or the columns that can be grown in the unit area. The spacing calculator can be used to identify how many plants we can grow per row or column of the field.

Area of field= Length × Width (Units in Metric or Imperial Units)

You can calculate the number of plants in the field or garden by the square pattern and triangular pattern in a given field.

Square Spacing Pattern:

The plant spacing in a field can be measured by the square spacing methodology. In the square spacing methodology, we can estimate the plants per row and per column.

Plants per Row = Length/ Plant Spacing

Plants per Column = Length/ Plant Spacing

Total number of Plants = Plants per Row × Plants per Column

The other formula for the plant spacing can be used by the following formula

Total Number of Plants in the field = [Area of Garden/(Plant Spacing)^2]

The Plant Spacing Calculator saves your extra cost and assists to measure the total cost required to plant in a given field.

Triangular Spacing method:

The other method used to estimate the plant spacing is the Triangular spacing.  In the triangular method you need to estimate the pants in the corners of an equilateral triangle. You can cultivate the plants at an angle of 60 degrees to each other in the equilateral triangle. You can use the Plant Spacing Calculator to estimate the triangular spacing between the plants.

Row Spacing = Plant Spacing × 0.866

For odd rows of triangular spacing  (1,3,5,7, etc)

Plants Number (O) = [Length/Plant Spacing]

For even rows  triangular spacing (2,4,6,8, etc):

Plants Number (E) = [Length-Plant Spacing×0.5/Plant Spacing]

Total Rows = [(Width – Plants Spacing)/Row Spacing]+1

The even number of the row (2,4,6,8, etc)

Number of Even Row (E) = [Total number of Rows/2]

The odd number of the row  (1,3,5,7, etc)

Number of odd Row (O) = Total number of Rows-Row (E)

The total number of plants are estimated by the triangular spacing methodology

Total Number of Plants =  Plants Number (E)× Row (E) +  Plants Number (O)× Row (O)

Practical Example:

Let’s suppose there is an area 100 by 50 feet that the harvester is  planning to cultivate the olive tree in the area and intend to space the plants 6 feet apart in a square pattern. Find how many olive trees he can cultivate in that area.

Solution:

Now by the square spacing method:

Area of field= Length× Width = (100)(50) = 5000 square feet

Plants per Row = Length/ Plant Spacing = 100/ 6 = 17 Plants per Row

Plants per Column = Length/ Plant Spacing =  50/6 = 8 Plants per Column

The Plant Grid used to cultivate is the  17 x 8 plants to achieve the required spacing in the area

Total Number of Plants = Plants per Row x Plants per Column

Total Number of Plants in the field = 17x 8 = 136 Plants

The Total Number of Plants count is 136 in the field of 5000 square feet.

Plant Spacing Chart:

For simplification just  use the plant spacing chart to determine the number of plants in your field. The plant spacing chart provides a simple idea what should be the plant density in an area. You can estimate the plant density of various areas by the grid area given in the chart below. This is great to know how many plants you can grow in a given area.

Conclusion:

The plant spacing is necessary to find when you are cultivating the plants in a field. There are two methods of cultivating the plants: the square pattern and the triangular pattern of the cultivation. You need to decide which method is best serving to cultivate the plants in your field. This is essential to estimate the number of plants in the field.
