Meetings for Hope
Hello fellow Tree Lovers, it is Mackenzie here, tired as ever. I have been running around, talking about the Clean Air Tree Kit. When I step back now, I see it has really been worth it.
First, there was Member of the Parliament of Canada, Anthony Rota. After that, I met with Mayor Victor Fedeli of North Bay. We discussed about making the first ever Clean Air Forest in North Bay. As you know, the students at the Near North School Board are growing trees in their classrooms and are looking for a home to plant and watch them grow. Mr. Fedeli has written about ForestNation (WCAFI) in his blog as well. He has been supportive of ForestNation and I am grateful. We are still trying to find a place, but I am hopeful!
Next, I went to the Member of Ontario Parliament Monique Smith, who I asked about the possibility to use the Clean Air Tree Kit as an educational tool. She is sending letters to the Ministers of Natural Resources and Education about getting the globes into schools soon!
We need this because the Ontario government has promised to plant 50 million trees by 2020. If they used the Clean Air Tree Kit (CATK) to educate the kids, they could teach them the skill of growing trees for their whole life and fulfill their goal to plant 50 million trees. Also, since the CATK leaves no waste behind (it is 100% biodegradable/compostable) it is the eco-friendly choice to teach that you should choose for the environment, green technologies, and for the future.
Ms. Smith saw this opportunity and decided to help get the CATK along with the rulers and pencils!
What about the classes who are growing CATKs? Can you comment and tell me what you think? I will be checking in with Mayor Fedeli, Mr. Rota and Ms. Smith to find out how their trees are growing. North Bay is growing clean air, are you?
