Visit to Esu village to plant a Forest
“Dear ForestNation,
I am delighted to inform you that I was invited to present my power point in a village called Esu, which is 110 km from Bamenda with very rough and dusty roads. It was a journey of 8 hours using local Bush taxis.
I talked to a crowd of more than 500 villagers! When I mentioned ForestNation and tree planting, a young man called Fidelis (seen in the photo) stood up expressing himself that his dreams have come true. His father gave him land and his vision was to plant a forest. More than 50 villagers also expressed interest in planting trees. Next July I will allocate 5000 trees for this village especially eucalyptus for they depend on natural forest for fuel which has disappeared.
I also identified a spring which shall be built and trees planted around to conserve it.
In February, I will go back there to start a land preparation at the Village hospital in preparation for planting a lawn and trees. More than 200 villagers expressed interest in starting their own lawns to prevent erosion and dust in dry season.” – Farmer Tantoh
