The white spruce is a large coniferous evergreen tree which grows normally to 15 to 30 metres (49 to 98 ft) tall, but can grow up to 40 metres (130 ft) tall with a trunk diameter of up to 1 metre (3.3 ft). The bark is thin and scaly, flaking off in small circular plates 5 to 10 centimetres (2.0 to 3.9 in) across. The crown is narrow – conic in young trees, becoming cylindric in older trees.

Pinus pinea

The Stone Pine is also called Italian Stone Pine, Umbrella Pine. Stone pines have been used and cultivated for their edible pine nuts since prehistoric times. They are widespread in horticultural cultivation as ornamental trees, planted in gardens and parks around the world. This plant has gained the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.

Maritime Pine

The Maritime Pine, is a pine native to the western and southwestern Mediterranean region, from Portugal and Spain north to southern and western France, east to western Italy, and south to northern Morocco.

In addition to industrial uses, maritime pine is also a popular ornamental tree, often planted in parks and gardens in areas with warm temperate climates. It has become naturalised in parts of southern England, South Africa and Australia. It has gained the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.

Tamarillo

A small tree or shrub in the flowering plant family Solanaceae “the nightshade plant”. It is best known as the species that bears the tamarillo, an egg-shaped edible fruit. Other names include tree tomato, tomate de árbol, and Dutch eggplant in Indonesia. The plant is a fast-growing tree that grows up to 5 m. The tree usually forms a single upright trunk with lateral branches.

The fruits are egg-shaped, and their colour varies from yellow and orange to red and almost purple. Red fruits are more acetous, yellow and orange fruits are sweeter. The fruits are very high in vitamins and iron and low in calories (only about 40 calories per fruit).
