How TIME and Statista Decided The 100 Most Sustainable Companies
5000 top companies were evaluated using a four-step process that considered more than 20 key data points.
Those with products and services linked to fossil fuel, deforestation, environmental disasters, and scandals weren’t considered.
Emissions
The ranking assessed companies’ Scope 1 and 2 emissions, emission intensity, reduction rates, and renewable energy consumption. Top-ranked companies like Schneider Electric excelled in reducing their carbon footprint and setting ambitious emission reduction targets.

Corporate Sustainability Initiatives
TIME and Statista looked at companies’ commitments to globally recognized sustainability programs like the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTI), UN Global Compact, and UNFCCC Race to Zero. Companies that ranked higher had made sustainability commitments through public disclosures and embedded sustainability into their core business models.
ESG
Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance was evaluated based on companies’ ESG reports, ensuring they were published, externally assured, and compliant with international standards. Key social and environmental metrics from CSR reports were also considered.

CGI
CGI is committed to achieving net zero by 2030 for scope 1, 2 and business travel in scope 3, 20 years earlier than the Paris Agreement target. They’re also aiming to provide opportunities to underrepresented groups in technology and cultivate an equitable environment.
CGI reduced carbon emissions by 50% since 2014 through environmentally-oriented operating practices. They achieved platinum rating from EcoVadis in 2023 and 2024 for sustainability performance, placing in the top 1% of companies.
CGI gifted Tree Kits to their community and that planted matching trees in Philippines.
Dassault Systèmes
Dassault Systèmes’ corporate purpose is focused on harmonizing product, nature, and life.
Dassault Systèmes uses its 3DEXPERIENCE virtual twin platform to help companies R&D products, processes and business models to realize radically new sustainable innovations.
Dassault Systèmes enables customers from all industries to achieve the new products, materials and processes needed for a more sustainable economy.
Dassault Systèmes used our Tree Kits as an event giveaway. They planted over 10,000 trees in their Forest in Tanzania.
Infosys
Infosys aims to achieve net-zero across its value chain by 2030. They’re taking a comprehensive approach to sustainability.
Infosys has implemented initiatives spanning emission reduction, energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, and social aspects like diversity and inclusion.
Infosys publishes an externally assured ESG report compliant with GRI, SASB and TCFD standards. They’re setting the standard for transparency and accountability.
Infosys has used Tree Kits twice now as event giveaways, planting over 3000 matching trees in Tanzania.
Logitech
Logitech has set an ambitious goal to remove more carbon than it creates by 2030.
Logitech has transitioned its video collaboration devices to be manufactured using recycled materials, helping enterprise customers support their sustainability objectives. They decreased their scope 3 emissions by an impressive 21% in 2022.
Logitech openly shares its design for sustainability principles and knowledge to increase sustainability efforts industry-wide.
With many Logitech employees working from home at present, the ForestNation platform and engagement tools are critical in achieving our goals to take action.

LG Electronics
LG Electronics aims to cut carbon and reduce waste. They’re tackling sustainability from multiple angles.
LG is redesigning processes to cut carbon, rethinking product lifecycles to reduce waste, and introducing new sustainable technologies and products.
LG gifted Tree Kits to their team for World Environment Day.
Mastercard
Mastercard encourages its suppliers to cut their emissions by disclosing their footprint, providing resources, and collaborating on reduction projects.
In 2023, Mastercard saw a 1% decrease in emissions versus 13% growth in net revenue, generates and purchases 100% renewable energy for company’s operations, and has significantly reduced its Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions compared to 2016.
Mastercard publishes an annual ESG report driven by its guiding principles of People, Prosperity, and Planet, and actively engages its suppliers in sustainability efforts, with 91% responding to the CDP Climate Change Questionnaire in 2023.
The MasterCard program with the Tree Kits was perfect. The message about social responsibility and eco-consciousness was a strong tie into the credit union giving back to Earth. The promotion experienced a 15% sales lift in registrations which exceeded their expectations.

Merck is on a mission to reduce its scope 1 & 2 emissions, setting an example in the biotechnology and pharma industries.
Merck’s Greener Products & Solutions program was recognized as the Best Project in the Environmental Impact category of the 2024 Environment+Energy Leader Awards for minimizing the environmental impact of scientific research and manufacturing.
Merck operates responsibly to enable a safe, healthy future for people globally, and its sustainability strategy helps achieve its purpose and deliver long-term value.

Microsoft
Microsoft has pledged to become carbon negative by 2030 and to remove all the carbon the company has emitted since its founding by 2050.
Microsoft has made strong progress reducing its scope 1 & 2 emissions, accelerating carbon removal, designing for circularity, and protecting biodiversity. They’ve received an impressive “A” rating from CDP for their efforts.
Microsoft is investing in innovative climate solutions and empowering customers with sustainability tools.
Microsoft has added an option for their employees to plant trees from their merch store. They’ve planted over 30,000 trees through brand activations including Xbox and Microsoft Devices.
Philips
Philips is working to minimize its impact on the planet by taking climate action, driving the transition to a circular economy, and partnering with suppliers.
Philips expanded its circular revenues, remained carbon-neutral in its operations, achieved 78% renewable energy usage, and maintained the circularity of its waste stream at 91%.
Philips has a fully integrated approach to doing business responsibly and sustainably, engages with suppliers through its Supplier Sustainability Performance program, and transparently reports on its ESG commitments and progress.

Salesforce
Salesforce aims to reduce its absolute emissions by 50% by 2030 and to near zero by 2040, without relying on market instruments.
Salesforce reached 100% renewable energy usage, has been carbon neutral for its operations since 2017, and is helping to conserve, restore, or grow 100 million trees by 2030.
Salesforce publishes an annual Stakeholder Impact Report, has established sustainability as a core value, and actively engages with stakeholders to accelerate progress towards a net zero goal.

Takeda has committed to reducing emissions by 40% by 2025 and reaching net-zero before 2035 for operations and by 2040 for its full value chain.
Takeda achieved carbon neutrality across its value chain in 2020 through energy conservation, green energy procurement, and investing in renewable energy certificates and carbon offsets.
Takeda’s Sustainability by Design program minimizes environmental footprint by incorporating sustainability at every product development stage.

VMware
VMware is committed to achieving net zero 2030 for scope 1, 2 and business travel in scope 3. They’re also aiming to catalyze the transition to zero carbon clouds through partnerships with renewable energy-powered cloud providers by 2030.
VMware launched the Green Score feature in VMware Aria Operations Cloud to help customers optimize energy and carbon in cloud environments. They expanded the VMware Zero Carbon Committed initiative to over 50 cloud partners committed to renewable energy. They also met near-term science-based targets as of FY23 to reduce Scope 1, 2 and Scope 3 employee commute footprint.
