Our Planet Our Home

“Being in nature brings calmness and serenity into my life. Spending time in nature reminds me what is important in our lives. It is a place where inspiration comes from for me. We are part of nature. Nature doesn’t need us but we need nature – that is why it is our responsibility to look after our planet, our home.”

So what exactly is Our Planet Our Home? It started off as a sustainable community on Instagram, where Inkka continues to share facts, advice and ideas surrounding subjects of zero-waste and plant-based living.

The community has been growing for years, and the Instagram profile now has over 50,000 followers of people coming back for daily tips and inspiration to protect our Earth.

Recently, Inkka took a step forward and built a website where anyone who cares for the planet can become a part of her community. On her website, Inkka shares plant-based recipes, tips on living a more sustainable lifestyle and facts and inspiration about how a low-waste lifestyle can make a positive difference. Her website is also an interactive online forum where like-minded individuals can share their own stories and find friends.

“Our Planet Our Home is a community of change makers, people who care and want to make a positive difference for our beautiful planet. We support, motivate, inspire each other. Together we can make a bigger impact, which is why Our Planet Our Home brings like-minded people together.”

As Inkka says, zero/low-waste and plant-based lifestyles have an enormous positive impact on our environment. She constantly motivates others to start or carry on living more “green” with new articles and recipes every single week.

“My mission is simple – we need to recognise that we have the power to change the world by paying attention to what we do on a daily basis and what we spend our money on, living by example can inspire others and positive change will come.”

Protecting Our Planet

Inkka’s journey to a whole food plant-based lifestyle started 6 years ago when she, as a personal trainer, was looking for the most suitable diet for her body. Health, nutrition and the environment are all Inkka’s passions, and she has multiple qualifications in nutrition and health.

While studying plant-based nutrition, Inkka also learnt about the positive impact that this lifestyle has on the environment.

“I have been living plant-based lifestyle for 6 years now and I love it because this lifestyle has an enormous positive impact on our environment and also supports my health. I try to buy local and seasonal food in bulk as much as I can. To reduce my food waste, I plan my meals not to waste anything. I buy only what I need and if I need to buy something I look for it first in 2nd-hand or vintage shops and then from ethical brands. I keep reusing what I have already at home. I carry my water bottle, produce bags and shopping bags with me everywhere.”

“Spend time in nature. Go for a walk to the park, forest or whatever is available for you. Trees, plants, flowers – notice their colours, shape, smell. Notice the birds or any animals around you. Really look at them, what they do, how they look. Notice the sky, clouds, sun and immerse yourself in this beauty. You are part of nature. Subconsciously or even physically smile and notice your breath. Breathe and be grateful for all you have.”

When asked why Inkka is passionate about protecting our planet, her answer is simple:

“Because our planet is our home. We have nowhere else to live.”

A special thank you to environment enthusiast Inkka Hajkova for sharing her story and being a part of our nature-loving community!
